"Rounding on third": baby quilt progress

I'm getting ready to quilt the third corner of the baby quilt and now using the half quilting hoop. Jim was kind enough to take a few photos as I was pinning the next side down.

Marking is my least favorite part of quilting, put I do like the little chalk rollers because the marks are easy to remove.

Mugging for the photographer and a peak at Safety Pin Studio.

All pinned and ready to start quilting again. I'm hoping to finish today and get the binding on tomorrow. Updates to follow. Have a wonderful Saturday.

I had never seen a half quilting hoop before! That's neat. I've always done machine quilting, rather than hand quilting, but I can imagine how handy this half hoop must be.

Before I found this, Jean, I used to do this crazy method with bias tape and safety pins on a round hoop to keep the edges taut. This is incredibly more efficient. I found it in a shop in Paducah one year when I went to AQS.

Sweet photos and baby quilt!! I think you should do a video on your hand quilting process Dana!

Oh, thank you, Mary. When Dan is next home, I will enlist his help to try that. He's done several vodcasts on his blog and has the experience.
Kind regards,
Dana

I continue to be impressed with your hand quilting productivity! I have one of those half hoops, too...the perfect thing for borders!

Oh, thank you, Cat. When I use these long threads and straight quilting lines so don't have to stop to turn the hoop or tie knots, I can go like the wind. I'm in complete agreement about the half hoop. God bless the person who thought that up!
Kind regards,
Dana
