The Quilted Librarian: Screened Porch Quilting on Jim's Woobie

Another gorgeous day in the Piedmont Triad, so I was out on my screened porch quilting on Jim's woobie quilt.

The stippling design shows better on the back side. I'm loving the 80/20 batt and the soft backing fabric. They quilt like a dream.

How do you transfer the stippling design to the fabric...with a pounce? before you put it in the hoop? and then do you move your hand to follow those curves, or do you turn the hoop? You've been busy catching up on your blog reading today, haven't you? I use one of those little rolling chalk wheels and just mark one stencil at a time before I put it in the hoop. I turn the hoop, because I have the same problem with quilting in the wrong direction. I try not to drag my hand over the chalk, but sometimes that's not easy. It's slow, but it works.
