Our daughter, Anna got engaged this fall to a wonderful man who is also a devoted Red Sox fan. His name is Matthew, but his Irish family calls him Matty. This quilt was his Christmas present. I used Red Sox fan fleece on the back and lots of great baseball conversation prints on the front. The setting is the traditional Boston Common--very appropriate since they live in Boston, too. I tried to use grassy looking fabrics for the center and then either circular or pinstriped fabrics to round out the red areas. Here's a detail of the label and some of the backing fabric. What caught my eye was Red Sox! I am not only a Red Sox fan but an avid quilter. I also live in New England like your son-in-law and daughter. What a wonderful gift and beautiful quilt! I have to say I also love your pink and yellow quilt. Hop on over to my blog and you will see a similar color quilt made from strata. The post is the second one down. Love your work.
Hi Jackie,
Thanks so much for your nice comment. I don't do too many traditional quilts anymore, but this one was fun to compose. I enjoyed looking at your blog and added you to my Google Reader roll.
All the best,
Dana
Dana!
It's great to find you! I wondered where you went after Left of Center.
You are in a beautiful part of the USA.
Love your T shirt quilt. My first book came out last year "Fabulous Tee Shirt Quilts." And.. I am from Massachusetts. We are all Red Sox fans.
I still am into art quilts. I also teach dyeing fabric and painting fabric at the Indpls. Art Center.
So happy to know that you are well and still involved with your art.
