Independence Day

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism." ~Erma Bombeck

She was indeed. She was a fellow Buckeye, too. Did you know she raised her family in Ohio and was actually Phil Donahue's neighbor when he was married to his first wife and raising his kids? The Grass is Always Greener over the Septic Tank was written about that house.

The cake was very good, Jean. One of my Gate City quilting friends made it and all the folks at the quilt guild picnic enjoyed it immensely.

Hope you are both having a great fourth.
Best regards,
Dana

mmmmm my mouth is watering...that cake looks delicious! ...it's lovely that the stars and stripes are made with real raspberries and blueberries, not colored icing of some kind.

Yes, it was a wonderful cake--cheese cake on the inside. One of the ladies in our quilt guild made it for our picnic.
Hope you had a great fourth.
Best regards,
Dana
